Course Overview

By completing the Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology, students will acquire the necessary skills and expertise to work in the automotive electrical repair and service sector. During this program, students will learn how to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems.

You will be trained to install, maintain, identify faults, and fix electrical and computer-based systems in vehicles. Graduates of this program may find employment in auto repair workshops, car dealerships, or even in the mining industry.

Upon completion, students will become qualified professionals in the automotive electrical field. They will gain proficiency in various areas of automotive electrical work, such as:

  • Fixing and replacing damaged electrical wiring.
  • Adhering to industry-standard maintenance and service practices.
  • Understanding and following workplace health and safety protocols.
  • Properly using the tools and equipment utilized in the industry.
  • Employing electrical instruments to identify electronic issues.
  • Installing electrical systems.
  • Replacing malfunctioning components.

Course Requirements

  1. Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
  2. Educational requirement: Completion of Australian Year 10 or its equivalent from another country.
  3. Provide evidence of English language proficiency

Acceptable tests include IELTS, PTE, etc. (IELTS: minimum 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5; or an equivalent score). The test result must be no older than 2 years at the time of the visa application. Some institutions offer an internal English placement test that can be taken to fulfill the English language entry requirements.

Exemptions apply if:

  • You are a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, or the Republic of Ireland.
  • You are enrolled in a primary course of study, such as a registered school course, a standalone English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS), a program taught in a language other than English, or a registered post-graduate research program.
  • You have completed at least five years of education in English in one or more of the following countries: Australia, UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, or the Republic of Ireland.
